Revolut Planning to Increase Crypto Staff by 20%

Fintech firm Revolut plans to expand the headcount of its cryptocurrency business across Europe, the UK and the US by 20% over the next six months. Revolut has already hired 43 crypto business employees in 2022 and is currently hiring for 13 related positions, including compliance and financial crime prevention, as well as software engineers and professionals with crypto experience in the legal field.

Uniswap DAO Proposes to Create Uniswap Foundation

A proposal was submitted today in the Uniswap governance forum for the creation of Uniswap Foundation, a new entity that is completely independent of Uniswap Labs, which has the mission to support decentralized growth and sustainability of the Uniswap Protocol and its supporting ecosystem and community. The foundation will be led by former Uniswap Labs Chief of Staff Devin Walsh and Grants Program Lead Ken Ng, with Devin Walsh serving as executive director and Ken Ng serving as head of operations. It requested a total budget of $74 million, with $60 million for the Uniswap grant program and $14 million in the operating budget to build out a full team of 12 over the next two years. The foundation is also requesting 2.5 million UNI to participate in governance.

Bitcoin is down 1.52% over the last 24 hours and fell to an intraday low of $22,400.00. The relative strength index (RSI) is slightly above the midpoint, indicating that bulls still have a slight edge. The BTC/USDT pair has been trading around the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) ($22,592) for the last few days, suggesting this is a vital indicator for both bulls and bears. If the bulls are unable to hold the price above the 20-day EMA ($22,592), the bears will attempt to pull the pair below the 50-day simple moving average (MA) ($21,352). Conversely, if the price bounces from the 20-day EMA ($22,592), the bull will attempt to push the price above $24,000.

Vlad Tenev, CEO of stock and cryptocurrency trading platform Robinhood, announced that the company is reducing about 23% of its headcount. While employees from all functions will be impacted, the changes are particularly concentrated in the operations, marketing, and program management functions. “We have seen additional deterioration of the macro environment, with inflation at 40-year highs accompanied by a broad crypto market crash. This has further reduced customer trading activity and assets under custody,” said Mr Tenev. In April, the firm slashed 9% of its workforce.

Non-fungible token (NFT) sales in July on secondary markets fell 25% from June to US$650 million, the second month in a row under US$1 billion, according to data from NFT aggregation site CryptoSlam. Aave DAO Approves Launch of Algorithmic Stablecoin GHO

DeFi protocol Aave’s proposal for the creation of the algorithmic stablecoin GHO has been approved by the Aave DAO, with an approval rate of 99.99% (501,000 AAVE). Aave will enable the creation of GHO stablecoins through an Aave improvement protocol (AIP), with the Aave DAO in charge of supervising the stablecoin’s distribution once its creation has been vetted. Users looking to mint GHO will deposit cryptocurrencies accepted by Aave as collateral. Apart from acting as collateral, these deposits will also earn yield on Aave. The lending protocol will also charge interest on loans taken out in GHO, with payments going back to the Aave DAO.

According to Glassnode, the number of addresses holding 1+ Bitcoin just reached an ATH of 890,993. Bitcoin is down 1.32% over the last 24 hours and fell to an intraday low of $23,238.04. The largest cryptocurrency failed to sustain above the $24,000 price level during the weekend, suggesting the sellers remain active at this level. If the BTC/USDT pair breaks and closes above $24,000, the pair could rally to $28,000. Babel Finance Lost Over $280M In Proprietary Trading

Crypto lending platform Babel Finance has suffered significant losses due to proprietary trading with client funds, losing 8,000 BTC and 56,000 ETH in June, worth more than $280 million, according to a restructuring proposal document. As a result of these losses, Babel’s lending and trading departments were unable to meet margin calls from counterparties. Babel Finance is looking to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in debt and equity investments. First, it seeks to convert $150 million of its largest creditors’ debt into convertible bonds. Additionally, it hopes to raise $250 million to $300 million in convertible bonds and then secure a revolving credit of $200 million from creditors “for business restoration.” The plan, if successful, would turn Babel’s largest creditors into shareholders.

According to the latest report released by CME Group, in the second quarter of this year, the average daily open interest of its cryptocurrency products was 106,000 contracts, setting a quarterly record high; the average daily trading volume was about 57,000 contracts, setting the second highest quarterly record. Ether futures, in particular, notched an average daily volume in the second quarter of 6,600 contracts, an all-time high that was up 27% from the first quarter. A record 26,500 contracts traded June 15.

The commerce department announced Thursday that gross domestic product (GDP) decreased at an annualized rate of 0.9% in the second quarter after falling at an annualized rate of 1.6% in the first three months. Bitcoin is up 4.32% over the last 24 hours and rose to an intraday high of $24,200.00. The relative strength index (RSI) is above the midpoint, indicating that bulls have a slight edge. If the bulls push the BTC/USDT above the overhead resistance at $24,000, the pair could rally to $28,000.

According to government documents, Chainalysis’ government business is worth tens of millions. Chainalysis was valued at $14 billion last year.

The Federal Reserve has hiked interest rates by another 75 basis points. After the 0.75% increase, U.S. interest rates are now between 2.25% and 2.5%, the highest levels seen since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bitcoin is up 7.7% over the last 24 hours and rose to an intraday high of $23,115.00. The largest cryptocurrency surged alongside the equities markets as the 75 basis point rate hike is in line with market expectations. The 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) ($21,944) has flattened out, and the relative strength index (RSI) is above the midpoint, indicating that bulls have a slight edge. For now, the bulls will attempt to push the BTC/USDT to the overhead resistance at $24,000.
